Our Goal

FloatMast is a company aiming to provide measurement solutions to the offshore industry. Our primary aim is to provide bankable Wind Resource Assessments through our innovative FloatMast platform. In addition according to our clients’ needs we provide also high quality and reliability oceanographic and environmental monitoring services.

Our Solution

FloatMast® allows the widely accepted and transparent wind measurements methodology of met mast and Lidar combination to be implemented to the Offshore Wind Industry. It permits for the highest wind measurements accuracy leading to lower uncertainty calculations of the P50, P90 and P99 income estimations. FloatMast® data measurements are Industry’s best wind data measurements by definition due to the fundamentals of the underlying technology.

Our Motivation

Motivated by the Offshore Wind Industry’s need for de-risking of future income estimations at the most economical way and by the fact that the engineers need the highest quality of data for the design and maintenance of Wind Parks’ installations the floating mast and Lidar solution came up as a natural result. Moreover, as the Parks are getting larger, heading to deeper waters and moving further from the coast, a met mast solution capable of being deployed anywhere seemed to be the technology gap. Additionally, the need for an IEC 61400-12-1: 2022 compliant device capable of conducting power curve verification in any wind turbine could not be addressed by fixed met masts or floating Lidars. For these reasons, a team of expert companies came together and worked to provide the much needed result.

Our Story

On the summer of 2012, Antonios Peppas, FloatMast’s inventor, realised that as wind turbines are becoming floating so will met masts. This simple idea, initiated FloatMast’s solution and the venture started.

Our Team

FloatMast is the result of a wide combination of skills in many different industries. It combines the expertise of ETME SA, a well-established civil, hydro, environmental and port engineering company, and Streamlined Naval Architects LTD, an innovative naval and marine engineers company. The transformation of FloatMast® - from the spark of an idea to the proof of concept and its potential to reach the level of technological and investment readiness - is a journey that the two companies have undertaken together, both committed to achieve its successful commercialisation through the joint venture FloatMast.
